Gold rate today by city — the complete India guide

The metal is identical everywhere in India, yet published rates differ marginally between cities. This guide explains that gap and links to the Council's live rate page for each city we cover.

Why city rates differ at all

Bullion lands in India at a single import-parity cost. What varies afterwards is local: transport and insurance to the market, refining lot availability, association quote conventions, and how tight physical supply is during a wedding or festival week.

The result is a difference measured in a fraction of a percent, not rupees per gram. A quote that differs from the national board by several percent is not a city effect — it is margin.

The South India benchmark

Chennai and the Kerala association quotes anchor much of the southern retail market, with Bangalore, Coimbatore, Madurai and the coastal Andhra belt pricing closely around them. Coimbatore and Salem are also manufacturing centres, which affects supply of finished pieces more than the metal rate.

Mumbai, Delhi and the northern belt

Zaveri Bazaar in Mumbai is the country's price-discovery centre and the closest published rate to import parity. Delhi's Karol Bagh and Chandni Chowk drive northern wholesale, with Jaipur, Lucknow and Chandigarh referencing that belt.

How to use a city page

Open your city's page for the live 22K and 24K per-gram rate, the 1g/8g/10g/100g table, the price chart across 1D to 1Y, the ten-day history and a worked cost example including making charges and GST. Compare the metal rate on your quotation against it on the day of billing.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the gold rate in my city different from the national rate?

Local association quotes, transport, refining lots and physical demand create a small documented differential. It should be a fraction of a percent, not a large gap.

Which city has the cheapest gold in India?

Differences are marginal and change week to week. Making charges and the fairness of the invoice affect your total cost far more than the city you buy in.
