What can be filed
Two tracks, one standard of care.
Merchant track
For members and their trade counterparties.
- Non-payment, cheque dishonour or prolonged credit default by a trade buyer.
- Short weight, purity shortfall or wrong fineness in a bullion or wholesale supply.
- Karigar disputes: unreturned metal, abandoned orders, wage disagreements.
- Unfair treatment during BIS, GST or weights-and-measures action.
- Misuse of a member's brand, hallmark or HUID records.
Consumer track
For any buyer dealing with a member or an accredited platform.
- Purity or hallmark not matching what was sold.
- Buyback or exchange terms not honoured by a member.
- Making charges or wastage differing from what was quoted.
- Digital gold: delivery refused, holdings unclear or charges never disclosed.
- A gold savings scheme not settled as promised.
Timeline
What happens, and by when.

The Council does not replace the law. When a matter needs a statutory authority, we escalate with the full case file attached so you are not starting again from zero.
